Jhari Falls

Jhari falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in Chikmagalur district. Jhari waterfall is often visited along with Mullayanagiri and Baba Budan Giri. Water originating in the mountains flows over steep rocks offering a wide and thin white layer of spectacular waterfall.

Highlights of Jhari Waterfall:

  • Serene location: Jhari Falls is located in the middle of dense forests and coffee plantations
  • Pool at the base of Jhari waterfall is ideal for a dip or short swim.

Best time to visit: Post monsoon season from August till January is the best time to visit Jhari waterfall.

How to reach: Jhari waterfall is 267 kms from Bengaluru and 24 kms from Chikmagalur. Kadur Junction is the nearest railway station (57 kms) and Mangaluru is the nearest airport (180 kms). Taxi can be hired from Kadur or Chikmagalur to reach Jhari waterfall. Last five kms to Jhari falls are accessible only via private jeeps which are chargeable. Trekking to the falls is another option. 

Stay: Multiple homestays are available very close to and on the way to Jhari waterfall. More hotels and resorts are available in various parts of Chikmagalur district, within 20-30 kms from Jhari waterfall.
